In this column we take a look at unusual Renault products.
It has been many decades since 45 rpm records were issued as promotional items or souvenirs. This single was released under the title Bolides Blues et Bandes Blanches. Erick Vincent sings about the exploits of the Renault 8 Gordini in an upbeat melody. The record was produced by Disques Vroum Vroum from Boulogne. As well as the inspiring front cover, which shows a number of 8 Gordinis on the track, the back cover is also interesting. It mentions a number of features from the world of racing, along with names, some of which can actually be traced back to musicians, producers and artists. All copies of this single that appear on the Internet carry a message with Amédée Gordini's signature, but these appear to be printed.
It is very likely that this record refers to the 1970 Jour G at the Paul Ricard circuit, where the 12 Gordini was launched in front of thousands of 8 Gordinis. There are even two versions of this single, this one with a blue label on the vinyl and the second one with a black label.
