Sapeurs pompiers

In this column we take a look at unusual Renault products.

It is not only farmers, citizens and outdoor enthusiasts who face the risk of fire. Businesses are at least as much at risk, if not more so. Factories and workshops use machinery that sometimes operates at high temperatures. There is a risk of fire. Or what about employees who are not very careful and, for example, leave a cigarette butt in the wrong place. Accidents happen in the darkest corners, and fire is no different.
That is why Renault, like many large companies in the past, had its own fire brigade on the various factory sites. A few issues ago, we featured a special Estafette which, after its time as a demonstration vehicle in Flins, was used by the company's fire brigade for many years. The men and women who used it would no doubt have worn a matching helmet from the Sapeurs Pompiers Usines Renault, as shown here. A helmet that seems to have been put to good use in this case, although the number of company fires will not have been as high in practice.
