For many years, the Renault 18 was part of FASA-Renault's delivery programme in Spain. Not only the traditional sedan was made, but also the Break which was called Familiar there. One of the first versions offered in Spain was the 18 GTS Familiar, at a time when there were no luxury GTS versions in the rest of Europe. Of course, this version was based on the TS with the 1,647cc engine, but the equipment of the GTS was of a level higher. The main technical difference was that the GTS Familiar was fitted with a five-speed manual transmission as standard.
