Eight years ago, Anthony Durin created the group Générations Renault Agriculture on facebook, which is now growing into a real club.
A number of young French people are totally enthusiastic about Renault tractors. The fact that young people are interested in this is in itself good news for the future.
The Facebook page was first used by Anthony to share photos of his own tractors. But it gradually grew into a place for enthusiasts to exchange information with each other.
A group of ten enthusiasts has now formed under a new logo. Considerable thought is already being given to remanufacturing rare parts so that Renault tractors can continue to be preserved in as original a state as possible.
The activities of Génération Renault Agriculture are a perfect complement to the Amicale du Tracteur Renault, which keeps history alive especially with their huge archive of documents.
Interested parties can sign up on facebook.
Since 1 September 2022, Renault Classic has taken on all activities regarding official documents.
Anyone who wants to register an old car needs more and more documents to do so. Documents preferably provided by the manufacturer. Years ago, one could request a certificate from Renault with proof of authenticity bearing the production date. For some time, that service was outsourced to a department that was not specifically familiar with classic models. And this often met with a lack of understanding or the simple fact that a response was sometimes delayed for a long time. That situation has now come to an end.
Via the new site theoriginals-services.renault.com, one can apply for various documents. This site is entirely the responsibility of Renault Classic. Indeed, Renault Classic's team has been augmented by an additional employee especially for this purpose. He has access to the archives and in many cases can even find far pre-war cars and issue certificates for them.
The site is available in six languages. A choice is offered between a certificate for French admission, an international certificate and a certificate of production date with, as far as known, things like engine and gearbox number, paint colour and production number (plaque ovale).
The first two certificates cost 75 euros each and the combination of a French or international certificate with production date costs 115 euros.
French designer Bruno Pellerain has a Suncar Arpège. That is a two-seater based on a Renault 4 of which 154 were built in Annecy and later in Clermont-Ferrand (1980-1986).
His own car bears the production number 001. He is in the process of making a complete survey of all surviving examples. Whether they are in driveable and restored condition or languishing in a corner. He prefers to get in touch with owners, but also if anyone has seen a Suncar at an event, he kindly asks them to pass it on to him.
If you want to see more of Suncar, check out his facebook page: facebook.com/brunodesignlab. You can also get in touch with the man via this page.
So far, Bruno has already found 68 examples, mostly in France, but also in former French colonies and Germany, Belgium, Spain as far as Thailand.
He especially wants to put Suncar owners in touch with each other so they can help each other with restoration.
