About one hundred thousand people visited Retromobile in Paris this year and saw, among other things, the large Renault stand with the Renault 5 as the main star.
February 2020 was the previous edition of Retromobile. By postponing the event by more than a month, France's biggest classic car event was able to take place from 16 to 20 March this year.
Renault immediately occupied the largest stand on the top floor of Building 7 of the exhibition complex south of Paris. Renault Classic brought 12 examples of the model to tell the story of 50 years of history. A colourful reminder in which apple green, bright orange and yellow caught the eye.

In addition to the historical models, the Renault 5 concept car also had a prominent place on the stand. The public was very enthusiastic about the design. Many questions were asked about the introduction date, price etc. The final car, which will differ very little from the concept, will be presented at the end of 2023 and will succeed the Zoe. This means a purely electric compact car.

The Renault 5 also has a long sporting history with various top models such as the Alpine and the Turbo. And with the Super Five with the GT Turbo. This was expressed on the stand with the spectacular Maxi Turbo, a production version of the 5 Turbo 1, a freshly restored black 5 Alpine. A black example as in the original brochure with red fabric upholstery.

In the early 1970s, Renault had an electric version of the 5, which was produced in a modest series of 200 to 300 units at the Flins factory. The light blue example of the Renault Classic is not unknown. There is no rear seat. That spot is reserved for a battery pack that can be changed through a large hatch in the roof. Renault Classic bought this example many years ago from an electric vehicle enthusiast.
