Just before the publication of this issue of Losange Magazine, Renault released some photos of the pre-production version of the new Mégane, the Mégane E-Tech Electric or MéganE.
With the arrival of this vehicle, the brand will have a complete range to serve the A, B and C segments with fully electric cars. The new Mégane E-Tech joins the range above the Twingo E-Tech Electric and the Zoe.
LIVERY
Renault is not just giving a hint by releasing these photos. A fleet of thirty will be touring Europe in this striking livery of the summer.
This series will be built on the new CMF-EV platform at the Douai factory, which started production of the Renault 14 in the mid-1970s. The car will have an electric motor with a substantial power output of 217 hp and a 60 kWh battery. This can provide a range of 450 kilometres before the Renault MéganE needs to be recharged. The cars are not just a scoop on the new MéganE, but also stylistically call attention to the new Renault logo. This is included in the camouflaging stickers of the thirty cars. Moreover, from the photos it is clear that the new brand logo adorns the front and rear of this five-door.
FLUSH
The C-shaped headlights, the shape of the rear lights, the position of the tailgate, the line of the side windows, the tailgate spoiler and the black contrasting stripes are all indicators of the car's appearance. The photos also clearly show that the front doors have flush handles and that the rear door handles have been hidden behind the window frame, just like on the Clio.
The Renault 4 was tested in the United States, but was never sold there. Nevertheless, we found this picture of a rusty example in the USA.
On the photo you can clearly see that sealed beam headlights of a larger size are mounted in the bonnet. The R4 also has a US-size number plate and the double bumper of a Super. The rear of this car also shows this double bumper and a normal tailgate. The car also has the first type of dashboard and the first version of the tailgate hinges. The current owner does not know anything about the origin of this car. He suspects that the car came from Mexico. Anyway, an R4 in the USA is a very special car and we would love to know the real story.
A new name for a new car? Not quite. The Renault Taliant is a compact four-door sedan that has been launched in Turkey and other countries. It is a Renault version of the new Dacia Logan. The grille and rear have been adapted to the typical characteristics of a Renault. The buyer can choose between the 1 litre three cylinder with or without turbo. The turbocharged version appears in the price list with LPG (100 instead of 90 hp) and with an X-Tronic CVT. The equipment variants are named Touch and Joy.
