The current Dacia Sandero has been the best-selling model to private individuals in Europe since 2017. It is important that Dacia keeps the focus on this model. This is done with the launch of the brand new, third generation.
This third generation also appears as Sandero, Sandero Stepway and a Logan sedan. The threesome is completely new on the inside and out. With the new model series Dacia offers a better product for a good price, because this has made the brand great.
Dacia was reintroduced to Europe over fifteen years ago with the launch of the first Logan. Especially among private buyers, the brand has grown into a bestseller with high popularity.
SHOULDER LINE
Dacia retains its affordability and compact dimensions, but now pours them into a completely new design. Naturally, the new Sandero and Logan look more modern and are better equipped.
The cars are somewhat lower and wider, and the latter is particularly emphasised by the pronounced shoulder line and increased track width. The lines of the bodywork are smoother, but the ground clearance remains the same. The antenna has been moved to a spot at the back of the roof. The designers give the Sandero Stepway a more individual look. As usual, the car stands higher on the wheels, but can now also be recognised by the convex bonnet, the chrome Stepway notice under the grille and the higher framing of the fog lights.
The new Logan follows the Sandero's line, but the compact sedan has a specific rear end. The car is slightly longer compared to the current version.
STRUCTURAL
Dacia is stepping down from the familiar B platform for the first time with this new Sandero and Logan. The new duo uses the platform of the new Clio V and there are also structural similarities with this Renault.
Dacia introduces a new light signature with a Y-shape in the headlights, extending the line across the grille. At this early stage it is not yet known whether these models will be sold in other parts of the world under the name Renault. Dacia and Renault promised some time ago that there would be a clear design split between the two brands. Dacia brings the 1 litre 3 cylinder with and without turbo back into service, which is already available in the current Sandero.
The beautiful book 'Concept-cars et prototypes d'étude Renault' has no less than 356 pages. The book gives a good insight into the projects in which designers have been involved over the past 60 years.
Author Christophe Bonnaud dives deep into the history and present of Renault Design. The period from 1960 to the present is covered. The chapters are filled in according to the different design chiefs. This is followed each time by an overview of the cars that were created in the period in question.
The first chapter deals with the years of Gaston Juchet and Robert Opron and the study models from the seventies and eighties. Then it is Patrick Le Quément's turn with the models from 1988 to 2009. The third era concerns Laurens van den Acker with his concept cars from 2010 to 2020.
The book 'Concept-cars et prototypes d'études Renault' costs 89 euros (without postage) and can be ordered directly from the publisher BJB on the site:

Many books about Renault cover the same subjects and use existing photographs. Occasionally a book appears that is the exception to this rule. So does "Renault Sport Les Extraordinaires 1980-2020".
Maxime Joly composed this beautiful book. From the cover on you can see that maximum attention has been paid to it. The beautiful photos are made especially for this book and are of high quality.
The book has 240 pages with hundreds of beautiful images. Not only the sports models such as the R5, Clio, Mégane and Sport Spider, but also the Safrane Biturbo and the 25 V6 Turbo are featured. The relationship between images and text is perfectly balanced. All in all a beautiful book to browse, look at and read.
The book can be ordered directly from the publisher for 35 euros:
