On 13 September, Artcurial will auction off the entire collection of André Trigano (94), collector, driver, politician and entrepreneur.
Trigano's collection is very extensive and diverse. It includes some twenty Renaults, cars, which he bought as collectors' items and, if necessary, he had them restored, as well as models, which he, himslf, used. The vehicles include a black Renault 25 V6 Limousine (12.642 euro, black paint, beige leather, manual, normal rear seats), a Renault Vel Satis Initiale 3.0 V6 dCi (6.020 euro, black) and a dark blue Renault Safrane Baccara (5.418 euro).
At the other end of the spectrum, there are four cars, which need to be fully restored; a Renault KZ4 conduite intérieure (1930, 843 euro), a Renault Monaquatre YN2 (1933, 2.649 euro) and a Renault Primaquatre ACL1 (1936, 1.084 euro).
Of course, André Trigano's collection also includes such obvious classics as a Renault 4CV (1954, drawn ouf of auction), a Renault Dauphinoise (1957, 16.856 euro), a Renault Frégate Transfluide (1958, 7.826 euro), a Renault Floride S (1962, 21.070 euro) and a Renault Clio Baccara (1992, 9.030 euro).
And there is the sudden appearance of the extraordinarily decorated Renault 4, which Artucurial already showed on its stand at Rétromobile in February. A 1967 vehicle, this car was taken care of by the artist Armand Fernandez in 1967, as part of a benefit campaign by the magazine, ‘Réalités’. The car was painted in two colours and features profile drawings of the Renault Four. This example has only 875 kilometres on the odometer (50.568 euro).
The collection also includes a number of fine pre-war Renaults : a 1926 Renault NN torpédo (10.836 euro), a 1929 Renault NN2 berline (6.020 euro), a 1927 Renault KZ1 torpédo (10.836 euro), a 1932 Renault Monaquatre (6.020 euro), a 1933 Renault PG8 Primstella (21.672 euro) and a 1939 Renault Novaquatre (8.428 euro).
Rare and interesting is the Renault 5 Le Car Van (14.448 euro), which was built by Heuliez in a production run of approximately four hundred and fifty examples. This particular vehicle dates from 1981 and is based on the Renault 5 TS. It has covered just under 70,000 kilometres and was repainted some time ago - which is why the characteristic striping is missing. Special parts are the plastic rear quarter side panels, with portholes, and the special tailgate, which is also a plastic moulding. This latter is fitted with a small rear window and an attachment for the spare wheel, which is housed under a cover with ‘Le Car Van’ printed on it.
All information about the cars and the auction itself can be found on the aution house’s site Please note that the estimated prices often seem attractively low, a ruse to encourage many people to bid. Do not forget the surcharges and taxes, which will be applied. However, just dreaming away is worth a visit to the site.
