Medication

Reminder that if you are taking medication, whether prescribed or unprescribed, you must declare the medicine to Morson straight away. It is your responsibility to ensure any medication, supplements, anything you consume, is:

  • Safe to do so and will not have an adverse effect on your ability to work.

  • Isn’t banned from use and thus could fail a drugs and alcohol test.

Benzodiazepines (benzos) are a class of drugs. Benzodiazepines are used to treat a range of conditions, but they can slow down the body’s functions. Examples of benzos include (but not limited to): Diazepam, Lorazepam, Nordiazepam, Oxazepam, Temazepam.
Other examples of banned substances include: Propoxyphene, Opiates, Methadone, Ketamine and Tramadol, Amphetamines, Cannabis, Cocaine, MDMA, Barbiturates, LSD.

Benzodiazepines can often be banned from use on the railways, which means that if you are taking one and you have a drugs and alcohol test this could lead to you failing that test. This will then mean you are banned for 5 years from working on the railways (remember to declare medication use).
