CEMS Master's
in International Management

Impact the future

Enhance your impact as a global citizen

CEMS is the alliance of 33 Business Schools, among the best worldwide ( (10 CEMS schools in the 2023 Financial Times TOP 20 Master's in Management), uniting their expertise into the coordinated CEMS Master’s in International Management (CEMS MIM) program.

The Alliance also incorporates around 70 Corporate Partners (multinational companies) and 8 Social Partners (NGOs and Social Organizations), among the best international recruiters. Corporate and social Partners contribute to the program through their deep involvement in the curriculum, seminar offerings, project engagement and recruitment.

Students join an active network of +1300 students and 19.500 alumni of over 108 nationalities, working in more than 75 countries, who currently occupy positions at various management levels in a broad range of industry sectors across the world.

The CEMS MIM at Nova SBE is directed to bachelor students from the five continents seeking to push themselves to the next level and make a tangible impact in all types of Organizations worldwide. Its main goal is to prepare impactful responsible leaders who will actively contribute to better organizations and to a better Word.

Upon Graduation, students receive two diplomas: A Master’s degree issued by Nova SBE* and the Master’s in International Management (CEMS MIM) certificate issued by the CEMS Alliance.

The CEMS MIM at Nova SBE is a two-year Master’s program at the forefront of the Nova SBE Masters’ offer. In year 1, students follow one of the eight Nova SBE Master programs curricula*. In year 2, the CEMS MIM combines transversal topics, courses, seminars, and projects developed in a synchronized way by the 34 business schools of the Alliance. CEMS Year 2 students’ study one semester at Nova SBE and one semester in one of the other 33 CEMS business schools.

* from one of the eight Nova SBE Master’s degree: International MSc in Management (IMM), International MSc in Finance (IMF), MSc in Management, MSc in Finance, MSc in in Economics, MSc in Business Analytics, MSc in Impact Entrepreneurship and Innovation, or MSc in International Development and Public Policy.

Joining the CEMS MIM was without a doubt one of the best choices I have made in my life so far. The ability to learn from extremely talented professors and classmates, alongside the opportunity of studying and living in different countries is what allowed me to achieve my professional goals.
During the program, I had the possibility to meet and interact with CEMS Corporate Partners on a regular basis, which was a decisive factor that allowed me to receive my first job offer during the completion of the program. But the CEMS’ real value is in the long run: with the vast number of people and friends I met while being a student, I have created a truly global network that spans across different countries and companies and that will last forever.

Curricular Elements

CEMS MIM Courses

The curriculum combines mandatory and exclusive courses, reserved to CEMS students, and a selection of the best elective courses from the Nova SBE MSc portfolio. Additionally, during their CEMS Year 2, students must complete 5 ECTS in Hard Skills courses.

International Internship

CEMS International Internships provide students with a real-life professional learning experience of integrating an organisation’s culture and processes. The main objective is to turn academic and theoretical knowledge into a professional, multi-cultural experience.

This internship can take place in one of three moments:

  • After the end of the bachelor and before the start of the master
  • Between the 1st and the 2nd year of the Master
  • After the end of the 2nd year (a job contract can be considered)

Block Seminar and Global Citizenship Seminar

The Block Seminar is offered in the beginning of the 1st semester and is designed to be a cultural and academic intense week. At Nova SBE, the Block Seminars are typically around a subject such as "Innovation in a World of Change." Corporate Partners present challenges for student teams to explore.

The Global Citizenship Seminar is offered at the beginning of the 2nd semester. Students are immersed for two days to deal with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals' challenges, with the CEMS Corporate and Social Partners' involvement.

Skill Seminars

Skill Seminars are practical skills training workshops (usually half-day) brought to students by the school and corporate partners.

Business Projects

Business Projects are a mandatory component of the curriculum, and each CEMS School offers Business Projects over the CEMS MIM second year/second semester. They are designed as a real-life learning experience for international teams of students (four to six) who solve a real business problem, tutored by a company representative and a professor, in parallel. The Business Projects engage at least half the students’ workload during the second semester (From February to May at Nova SBE).
