Our main wish is that you enjoy your time here. We look forward to meeting and helping you adjust to this new country and this new Life at Nova. Here is some useful information to help you decide:

About the Campus

In September 2018, a new era for Nova SBE began as the school moved to a bright new campus located in Carcavelos, home to the school for the future.

The location of the campus is amazing. The surroundings grew exponentially to a fully urbanistic area with multiple means of transportation, cultural events, and activities. It will surely provide an incredible experience.

Accomodation

Accommodation in Lisbon and around Carcavelos

Finding a room in the campus surroundings will be more practical since it will allow you to get to campus faster, and the rent will probably be more affordable.

If you choose a place somewhere along the coast, the train connects all locations between Lisbon and Cascais, which will make your life easier. The best areas to stay in Lisbon and commute every day to campus are the ones closest to the Cascais train line. Central areas in Lisbon located near subway stations can also quickly take you to Cais do Sodré or Terreiro do Paço.

You can find more information about the school’s partnerships and special offers in Lisbon and Carcavelos here.

Transports

The Carcavelos Campus is located halfway between Lisbon and Cascais. The easiest way to get there by public transportation is by taking the train to the Carcavelos station. Please check the following mobility solutions:

  • Metropolitano de Lisboa (Lisbon's metro network)
  • CP – Comboios de Portugal (Train Services)
  • MobiCascais (Bus and bike renting services – Cascais area)
  • Carris (Bus – Lisbon area)
  • Vimeca (suburban area buses)

You can also use:

COOLTRA

Visa and resident permit

Visa and resident permit

Non-european (NON-EU) citizens

Students coming from countries outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland are required to ask for a Schengen Visa for Studying Purposes (longer than three months and up to one year) or a Residence Permit (for stays longer than one year). Please note that you can apply for a Residence Permit once you are in Portugal instead of renewing your Schengen Visa. Do not enter Portugal with a Tourist Visa – you will not be able to renew it.

Please consider that visa processing times can take longer than three months after your first interview with the Consulate. Therefore, we recommend you start the visa application process as soon as you receive confirmation of your acceptance at Nova SBE.

Remember that the responsibility for initiating and following the visa application process is entirely yours. Nova SBE does not influence the issuing time to process the visa.

Early applications for all programs are highly recommended.

European (EU) citizens

If you are coming to Portugal from a country that does not require an entry Visa, you still have to register at the Lisbon City Hall. You will need:

  • Valid ID card/passport (the original and a photocopy)
  • Proof of address in Lisbon
  • Sworn Statement

Important notice:

Portuguese visa processing can take anywhere from two weeks to three months, so it is advisable to start your visa application as soon as you receive the acceptance letter.

Suport for International Students:

Nova SBE has partnered with Kleya, a company that provides specific services to expats, giving them the possibility of asking for assistance when settling in Portugal. Kleya can help with many different day-to-day life needs, such as setting up a tax number (in Portugal, it's  called "NIF"), finding a rental property, checking rental contracts, setting up utilities, cleaning services, etc. Check this page for more information on pricing and conditions.
